Voluntary Water Conservation

ATTENTION: WEST CENTRAL IOWA RURAL WATER CUSTOMERS

As you are aware, we are seeing a prolonged drought, which has resulted in a decrease in the well levels of WCIRWA's well fields along with an increased demand.  To proactively address the decrease in these water levels and the increase in demand and to maintain a satisfactory water supply, we are requesting voluntary water conservation measures. 

Voluntary steps that should be taken to conserve water include:

  • No watering of lawns, shrubs, or gardens between the hours of 8:00 am & 7:00 pm
  • At-home car washing be reduced
  • The use of child sprinkler toys and wading pools be reduced or limited

Time to Celebrate Drinking Water Week!

We have been celebrating Drinking Water Week for over 40 years!

Hosted by the American Water Works Association, Drinking Water Week is a time to recognize the vital role water plays in the daily lives of every individual.

In 2023, Drinking Water Week will be recognized from May 7th – May 13th. During this time, water teams across the United States, Canada, and beyond proudly educate their communities on the amazing processes and science needed to create 1 “simple” glass of water.
